Lots of exciting (read rushed thru) things happened yesterday at City Commission meeting.
Administration settled with FPL to underground any future power lines along US1, they came up with a 400 million (up from 300 Mil) bond referendum and the most action speaker wise was a Puppy Mill ordinance.
But my favorite was Grove related with a proposal to make “West Grove” historic except for a little unknown fact that no one in Coconut Grove “Village West” had a clue that their commissioner was proposing said Historic designation….nor that they want to be called “West Grove”.
Resolution below;
A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION PROPOSING THE HISTORIC DESIGNATION OF THE AREA KNOWN AS “WEST GROVE” IN RECOGNITION OF THE HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL IMPORTANCE OF THE AREA TO THE CITY OF MIAMI AND DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO PROCEED PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 23 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED.
Except that after some negative comments from “Historic” residents who had no clue this was happening the reso became a “study” and not a mandate….which BTW reminds me of another “study” for a local CRA.
Oh well, saga continues…
Village West may want to “GottaJavMiami
