That I will not get back…. (nor will Jorge)
So… as a Realtor we always ask several questions to make sure that we are SUPER clear (I MEAN SUPER CLEAR) about what the Seller/Landlord will require and also how showings are requested.
Which leads me to today…
Them; “Hi, can I show Icon 3707 today.”
Us; “Yes… BUT THERE IS NO SUBLETTING OR SHORT TERM, ONLY ONE YEAR LEASE”
Them; “OK, they want a one year”
US; “Cool… we’ll fight traffic and bridge openings and in short… run to the showing cause we are in traffic 4 blocks away”
AND you know what is going to happen…
During showing the Customers say and I quote ” We like the unit and want to lock it up for the Month of May”
Which got a reply from us to the agent “WTF, what part of ONE YEAR LEASE DID YOU NOT GET?”
You know the sad part?
The showing agent was an assistant and her “Lead Agent” did not do her job and qualify the situation, she just sent this agent out to deal with a “Lead”….
Want to know the difference?
I was with Jorge (assistant) making sure he had support.
There are good agents that do their jobs and there are agents….who just suck.
A Torrecilla pays off!
This morning as I peeked out my window, what do I see?
True Story
This Guanabana (soursap) tree was planted by my Dad when we moved into our home in the early 90’s and its been a local treasure as folks from all around come and ask to clip leaves. The leaves are used to make a tea that some believe to alleviate different forms of cancer.
In some mystical way it all makes sense as my Dad passed from cancer and just the thought of folks using his tree to take care of themselves and family members just feels right.
Dad your always with us!

What is a “Torrecilla”???
It’s something that my Dad would do to resolve a problem.
And I had a problem in the form of a 6# Guananbana fruit that was way the hell up in the tree and when it fell it would be certain death.
Whats a dude to do?
Well you pull off some of the patio cushions and wait….

Yesterday was Thanksgiving which is a SUPER big deal in the Gonzalez Household as we invite a few folks and then those folks invite a few folks and before we know it……we don’t have enough food, which is the main fear in any Cuban home when there is a gathering of any sorts.
As in “Conjo, we don’t have enough food, someone go get some croquetta’s”
Well yesterday was one of those days as my lovely Wife was quite concerned with my purchase of a 15 LB Turkey as opposed to one of 100 LB because we had over 20 Friends & Family coming to dinner. She kept saying that this was the smallest turkey ever and whatnot and I did become a little nervous and that I would have to go get some croquetta’s.
BUT then out of the blue (and this is true) one of the guest arrived and she was all excited to see 2 peacocks (Peafowl) in the front yard and right there an then I had an idea…..what if…..
No that is not a Peacock (Peafowl) in the aluminum tray (that’s my undersized turkey) but what was really funny is the the Peacock (Peafowl) kept coming to the door and looking at my Turkey as if he recognized him….
TRUE STORY…
I have been frying a thanksgiving day turkey for over 20 yrs, (it really is the best way to cook) and as I was preparing the Fryer I look above and what do I see on my patio roof?
Yup…
Same Peacock (Peafowl) looking down on me as in saying “How could you be frying cousin Fred”…
So yesterday I filed my paperwork to Run (again) for City of Miami Commissioner District 2.
“Jav, why would you do this to yourself” you ask.
Simply put, It’s a build up of so many things that makes you realize that there needs to be a change in District 2 and the way it’s managed.
I know I have a long tough road ahead but I just can’t sit and watch this shit show anymore….
Gotta Jav Miami is more than one man. We are a small group of locals committed to making real estate in the Magic City what it really should be… about you.
